Margaret Gauntt, 94, of Midland, formerly of Hobbs, New Mexico, died on Saturday, March 22, 2008, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Manor Park Chapel with Rev Bill Billett, officiating. Funeral services in Hobbs, New Mexico will be 2:00 PM (Mountain Time) Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Lynn Sullins, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hobbs.She was born on October 13, 1913, in Payne County, Oklahoma and married Guss Earnest Gauntt on June 7, 1935 in Fairfax, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1982.Margaret graduated from Ripley, Oklahoma High School, Class of 1931, and resided in Seminole, Oklahoma from 1935 to 1945; Healdton, Oklahoma from 1945 to 1946; Hobbs, New Mexico from 1946 to 1998 and Midland, Texas from 1999 until her passing, at Manor Park. She worked at J. C. Penny Co. in Hobbs, prior to her employment at Hobbs Municipal School High School, and later at Municipal Schools Credit Union as the first full-time employee, before retiring as manager in 1978. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Hobbs, New Mexico since 1946; a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star; and a member of the New Mexico Credit Union Hall of Fame in 1996. She was a ever-loving mother, grandmother, and Grandma Emma forever.Survivors include her son, Kenneth R. Gauntt, and wife Peggy, of Midland, Texas; one granddaughter, Karen A. Lockyer, and husband Alfred Jr., of Winter Springs, Florida; two grandsons, David G. Gauntt of Midland, Texas and Jeffrey L. Gauntt and wife Shannon, of Hurst, Texas; one sister-in-law, Mildred Worsham of Healdton, Oklahoma; four nephews, Melvin McCarthy of Harrah, Oklahoma, Danny Worsham of Ringling, Oklahoma, Stephen Worsham of Healdton, Oklahoma, and Thomas Worsham of Yukon, Oklahoma; five nieces, Phyllis Staton of Arlington, Texas, Jeanne McGlasson of Frisco, Texas, Kay Chaney of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Sondra Waller of Vernal, Utah, and Linda Nation of Rapid City, South Dakota; three great granddaughters, Lauren Lockyer of Winter Springs, Florida, Sarra Gauntt and Hope Gauntt, both of Hurst, Texas; and one great grandson, A.J. Lockyer IV of Winter Springs, Florida.Margaret was also preceded in death by her father in 1963 D. T.
