Malorie Ann Cano-Perez, 27, of Marfa passed away in Midland after a courageous battle with colon cancer. A rosary will be held at First Christian Church of Marfa at 2:00pm on Friday, March 4, 2016. A funeral service will begin at 3:00pm after the conclusion of the rosary. Interment and military honors will take place at Merced Cemetery following the funeral services. Pallbearers will be Michael Cano (brother), Little Ant (Brother), Chris Pulido (uncle), Anthony Cano (cousin), Michael Silva (cousin), Andrew Phuntim (friend), Mathias Martinez (cousin) and David Cano (uncle).Malorie was born on December 1, 1988 in Mentica, California to Javier Cano and Brenda Cordero. She was a United States Army veteran and served from 2008 until her medical discharge in January 27, 2012. She married the love of her life, Joaquin Perez, three days before her passing with a small, beautiful ceremony. Malorie was an incredible woman with a passion for life. She was an extremely strong woman with a great sense of humor. She was one of the most selfless people you could ever meet and she loved to help others. She loved her niece and nephew, and her Chihuahua, Dom, was her baby.Malorie is survived by her husband, Joaquin Perez; father, Javier Cano Sr.; mother, Brenda Cordero-Quintana; sister, Melinda Cano; brothers, Javier Cano Jr. and Michael Cano; nephew, Troy Cano; niece, Mia Cordero; grandparents, Aurelio and Aida Tarin, Felipe Cordero, Estela Cordero, Mary Acosta, Pedro Cano; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.The family would like to express their gratitude towards the church, Hester White, Martinez family for the food, City of Marfa, all those who prayed, and all friends and family.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
