Mae Bell Johnson, 80, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, November 11, 2006, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Witherspoon, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 18, at Long Branch Cemetery in Marlin, Texas with Rev. F. A. Green, officiating.She was born on November 28, 1925, in Marlin, Texas and married Joe B. Johnson on October 12, 1942 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1986.Mrs. Johnson came to Big Spring in 1966 from Marlin, Texas. She worked as a cook at Big Spring Care Center for twenty years. She attended Mt. Bethel Baptist Church.Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Larry Newton, Edna and Bufus Cannon all of San Angelo, Betty and Arthur Gibbs of Big Spring, and Gladas Johnson and Carl Brown of Grand Prairie; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Tommie Johnson, Elvis Johnson, Dwayne and Elisha Johnson all of San Angelo, and Ray Johnson of Grand Prairie; four sisters, Shirley Parker of Big Spring, Igentry Bradley, Georgia Jones, and Ruth Knecht all of Midland; two brothers, Charles Moore of Midland and Robert Jackson of Canada; 50 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonzra and Rosie Lee Jackson Hunter; two sons, Joe Bailey Johnson, Jr. and Charles Edwards Johnson; and two daughters, Bertha Hudson, and Mary Jane Johnson.
