Macedonio Mendez Landin, 82, of Midland, formerly of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at his residence. Vigil services will be 7:00 PM Friday, September 26, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Reagan, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. He was born on May 9, 1921, in Ozona, Texas and married Belia Diaz on November 10, 1951 in San Angelo. Mr. Landin came to Howard County in 1968 from Mitchell County. He worked for Ozona ISD and Big Spring ISD and had also farmed. After retiring, he worked part time at Hall-Bennett Hospital for seven years. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Belia Landin of Midland; three sons & daughters-in-law, Joe and Nora Landin and Alonzo and Denettie Landin all of Big Spring and Macedonio, Jr. and Mary Landin of Midland; three daughters & sons-in-law, Irma and Jose Ortega and Alice and Henry Villa all of Big Spring and Amanda and Bobby Porras of Midland; 26 grandchildren, Cindy Landin and husband, Sammy Rodriguez, Joe Landin, Jr. and wife, Jasmine, Paul and Veronica Landin, Rocky Ortega and wife, Corina, Roy Ortega and wife, Suzie, Roman, Randy and Rachel Ortega, Cierra and Jeremy Landin, April Draper and husband, Thomas, Cassandra Herzog and husband, Kenneth, Victor Yanez IV, Pete Yanez, Lisa Landin, Macedonio Landin III, Chris, Adam, Jacob and Michelle Villa, Natalie, Gabrielle and Arthur Halario, and Candyce and Mercedes Porras; 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Orilia Perez of Big Spring; and a niece, Adela Deanda of Big Spring. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Saragosa (Mendez) Landin; and one brother, Rosendo Landin. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
