M.P. Snookie Roberts, 76, of Midland passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his residence. A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of West Kentucky Baptist Church, with Bro. Bob Porterfield officiating.Snookie was born in Midland, Texas on August 19, 1936. He was raised in Midland and graduated from Midland High School in 1955 where he participated in track and baseball. He met the love of his life, Christine Langston, in the summer of 1956 and they were married on August 10, 1957 in Seminole, Texas. He attended Sul Ross State University and in 1961 earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. He taught school and coached at Cowden Jr. High and Edison Freshman School. After teaching he worked as Sales Manager at Nickle Chrysler Plymouth and stayed in auto sales for many years. He has owned and operated Memorial Monuments of Midland for the past fifteen years. He loved The Lord, his family and playing golf with his buddies. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland. Survivors include his wife, Christine Roberts of Midland; daughters, Carla Dearing and husband Stewart of Temple, TX, Janna Rivera of Ft. Worth, TX, Sissy Shelton of San Antonio, TX and Kristi Hinkle of Grapevine, TX; one brother, Loren Roberts and wife Bobbie of Abilene, TX; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his mother Estalee Roberts, step-father Jake Roberts, father Ferrell Stewart and a son-in-law Cade Hinkle.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
