M. C. "Clyde" Denton, 89, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, November 18, 2004, in a local care facility. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rick Cunningham, minister of 14th and Main Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.Mr. Denton was born on September 27, 1915, in Trent, Texas and married Loyce Bryant on June 8, 1940 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2003.Mr. Denton was a life long resident of Howard County. He was raised in the Knott Community and farmed many places but always returned to Howard County within a year or two where he farmed untill 1988 when he retired to care for his wife. Work and family were truly his life. He was named Conservation Farmer of the Year in the 1970's. After his retirement he enjoyed restoring old tractors, at the age of 84 he restored an antique John Deere tractor. Clyde was a good farmer, good husband and a good friend. He was a member of 14th & Main Church of Christ.Survivors include two sons & daughters-in-law, Lynn and Judy Denton of Austin, and Kim and Cathy Denton of Big Spring; two daughters & sons-in-law, Kelley and Gary Fuqua of Big Spring, and Carla and Silvano Chavez of Hamlin; two sisters, Dorothy Wortham of Midland, and Marie Ferrai of Oklahoma, six grandchildren, Scott Denton, Christi Stucker, Clay Thomas, Aric Denton, Shasta Fuqua, and Brad Fuqua; and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, one grandson, one brother,and two sisters.
