Lynn \Shorty\ Maddox, 74, of Lubbock, formerly of Big Spring, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in a Lubbock hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Saturday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. He was born to Raymond and Wanda Maddox October 27, 1942 in Tulia, Texas and married Mary LaVerne Morris December 2, 1960 in Lenorah, Texas. She preceded him in death June 17, 1993. Shorty served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1968. He came to Big Spring in 1968 and was an electrician by trade. He worked for various companies during his career. He was a member of the Greenlawn Church of Christ in Lubbock and was baptized on his 74th birthday in the fountain on the LCU campus. Shorty was also a member of the Staked Plains Lodge 598 A. F. & A. M. He enjoyed bowling, camping, hunting and being in the outdoors. He also loved animals and being with his family. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Maddox and wife, Kim of Big Spring, and Marray Maddox and wife, Sarah of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Nick Maddox and wife Kellee, Nathan Maddox and wife, Sabrina, Malori Rogers and husband, Tyler, Peyton Maddox and Maci Maddox; and three great-grandchildren, Aeva Maddox, Conor Maddox and Aiden Maddox. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sherry Maddox; and one brother, Ronnie Maddox. The family would like to thank Dennis and Vanessa for the excellent care and friendship given to Shorty in this last years.
