Lupe R. Castillo, 78, of Big Spring, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 20, 2022.
Lupe was born July 28, 1943 in Brady, Texas to Milton Castillo and Epifania Rios. He came to Howard County as a young boy. He attended school at Knott and farmed in the Knott Community for the Robert Beal family before retiring. He raced cars at the Howard County race track for many years. After retiring, he was repaired small engine and appliances. He was a Catholic.
Lupe is survived by sons, Eddie Castillo and Rosemary of Big Spring, Milton Castillo and Belinda of Midland, daughter, Jo Ann Abrego of Coahoma, son, Raul “Penguin” Castillo and Cheryl of Big Spring and daughter, Amy Bacon and Phil of Coahoma; 12 grandchildren: Daniel and Angelina, Timothy and Brandi, Adrian and Lupe, Milton and Breann, Eddie Jo, Kenneth Paul, Tony and Paula Mae; 17 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Carol Garza, Petra Oliva, Maria Jojola and one brother Pete Amaro; six brothers and 1 sister all in Gonzales, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Johnny Garcia and a son-in-law Arnold “Chubby” Abrego.
