Lula Bell McAdams, 84, of Abilene, formerly of Big Spring, died on Friday, November 8, 2002, in an Abilene nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, November 11, 2002, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Claude Craven, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born on July 30, 1918 in Big Spring, Texas and married Thomas Jefferson McAdams on October 25, 1936 in Midland, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1996. She worked closely with her husband in McAdams Construction business in Big Spring and in the Dallas area. The times Lula Bell loved the most were the family times with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys football team. She also took an active interest in the Republican Party politics. One special time she always remembered was as a volunteer for an elementary school in Big Spring, helping children with their reading and spelling. Her parents were settlers in the Big Spring area and she always enjoyed visiting all her friends and family at the Old Settlers Reunions in Big Spring. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of First Christian Church and The Eastern Star Lodge for many years. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Nan McAdams of Abilene; grandchildren and families, Dr. Christie Leedy and husband Dr. Robert Leedy and children Corey Westin Leedy and Jace David Leedy of Abilene; SFC Gary Lynn McAdams and wife Eryka Vanessa and child Andres Renier McAdams of Fort Bragg, North Carolina and children Jeremy James McAdams and Amanda Gail McAdams of Overton, Texas; Thomas Harold McAdams and children, Tiffany Laura, Madison Taylor, Mckenzie Carol and Morgan Christie McAdams of Abilene; Robert Eugene McAdams and wife Sherry and children Sarah Grace and Luke Jefferson McAdams of Lake Jackson; Richard Mark McAdams and wife Wendy and child Ethan John McAdams of Grapevine; Sean Patrick McAdams and wife Elizabeth of Tucson, Arizona; one great-great grandson, Caleb Thomas McAdams; one sister, Lorraine Frances of Odessa; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Point of Austin and many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends. She was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby Lynn McAdams; her parents, Eugene and Alma Crenshaw, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Earl Wilson, Gladys and D.J. Shepard and Jay Francis. The family suggests memorials to the United Way of Abilene, Noah Project of Abilene or Hendrick Hospital Radiaton Therapy Center in Abilene, Texas.
