Luke McSpadden, 52, of Midland, died on Monday, August 31, 2009, in a local hospital. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.He was born on October 21, 1956, in Midland, Texas and married his high school sweetheart and soul mate, Gayla Smith on May 6, 1976, in Midland.Luke liked to tease, flirt, and enjoyed meeting people. He was best known for his random acts of kindness. He was a joy to his family and friends. He worked very hard and would proudly sign his name to the job he did for people. Luke proudly served his country in the United States Army.Survivors include his wife, Gayla McSpadden; one son, Wade McSpadden; a brother, Hal McSpadden; and a sister, Dorcas Hight all of Midland.Luke was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland. Gayla and Wade, I am so saddened to hear of Luke's passing. I went to LHS with him and it doesn't sound like he changed from his fun and friendly personality. I have not seen him since high school but I wish I could have gotten to know you & your son. My prayers are with you!

I will miss my Uncle so much. Words just can't replace him. He was always one of my role models. I really looked up to him and respected him greatly. We became instant friends while he was installing some tile at our house then I found out you were employed by J L Davis whom I have worked for and with for many years.
