Luis C. Martinez, 76, of Midland , Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2005, Midland Memorial Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church in Midland with , officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery Midland. A rosary will be held on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home, 3800 N. Big Spring St. in Midland.He was born on August 25, 1929, in Vado de Pierdra, Mexico and married Ygnacia Diaz on 1951 in Midland. Worked for General Tire Rubber Company in Odessa for 30 years. Luis enjoyed horseback riding, camping with the family, cooking and picking pecans. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. Luis was always happy and had a smile all the time. A great grandaughter put it best by desribing him as a "great man." He will be missed by all who knew him especially his dog "Blackie". He was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church.Survivors include his wife, Ygnacia Martinez of Midland; three sons, Adam Martinez Sr. and wife Betty of Midland; Jaime Esquivel and wife Yolanda of Midland; Ray Larez, seven daughters, Ninfa Esquivel and husband Cruz, Naomi Villareal and husband Nick, Lydia Castellon, Aurora Castellon, Elba Melendez all of Midland; Ramona Ortiz and Juan of Lubbock; four sisters, Leonor Gallegos of Midland, Gloria Granado, Isabel Granado, Nifa Garcia, four brothers, Rudolpho Martinez and Armando Martinez both of Midland, Alfredo Martinez of Dallas, and Silvino Martinez of San Antonio; twenty eight grandchildren, thirty four great granchildren, fifteen great great grandchildren.Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers: Jaime Esquivel, Cruz Esquivel II, Adam Martinez II, Luis Esquivel, Jaime Alexander Esquivel, Cruz Esquivel III, Caden Esquivel, Gabriela Esquivel, Crystal Martinez, Anna Alicia Esquivel, Celeste Martinez, Daniella Esquivel, Lyndsie Esquivel, Julie Ann Esquivel.The family suggest memorials be made to donor's favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
