Lucy Belle Hoover, 88, of Big Spring, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Rev. Bill Ivins, officiating. Lucy was born February 6, 1924, in Forrest, New Mexico. She moved to Pennsylvania in the late 1930's and worked for Jackson China. She moved to Big Spring in 1941 and began working for the Big Spring Bombadier School as a secretary. Soon after, she married Jay Hoover on September 3, 1943 and became a homemaker, with the Settles Hotel being their first home.She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Big Spring.Survivors include husband, Jay Hoover of Big Spring; children, Carolyn Freeman and husband, John of Big Spring, and Jay R. Hoover (Randy) and wife, Lisa of Cedar Park; sister, Juanelle Fort of Big Spring; grandchildren, Kevin Freeman and wife, Karen, and Chad Freeman and wife, Kara; great grandchildren, Ross and Ty Freeman, and Chandler and Sterling Freeman; niece, Jan Burrow of Austin; and nephews, Larry Sparks of Austin, David Fort and Rick Fort, both of Big Spring. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Pearl (Lindsey) Sparks; her son, Douglas Allan Hoover; her brother, Robert Allen Sparks; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Sparks.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
