Lucille Witt of Midland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019, in Midland. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland.Lucille was born on August 18, 1939 in Elk Point, Alberta, Canada to Margaret and August Bartling. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1961 at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Vegrebille, Canada. She met and married Merrell Witt on November 23, 1963. They were married in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada just one day after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Lucille had a passion for medicine and helping people which was influenced by observing her mother teach and apply health care to the children on a nearby Inuit Indian reservation. She enjoyed her nursing career as a registered nurse (RN) spanning many years in several locations and prominent hospitals including, Grande Prairie Canada, Bermuda (British Territories), Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Midland Memorial Hospital and Cardio Central Odessa. She also volunteered at the Children’s Ministry Clinic for several years. Lucille was also involved in her community and was active in many clubs including, Act IX, Pre-School Mother’s Club, St. Ann’s Altar Society and the Ladies Association at Green Tree Country Club. She was also a dedicated member of the water therapy group at COM Aquatics, and she cherished her time as a member of the Share and Care group, receiving grateful support and comfort in times of need. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Merrell Witt; her sons, Greg Witt, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Midland and Kevin Witt and his wife, Julie, of Austin, TX; and three grandsons, Benjamin of San Antonio, Evan of San Antonio and Carson of Annapolis, MD; her sister, Evelyn Vaughn of Edmonton, Alberta Canada; and many friends and relatives who she loved dearly.
