Lucia Pickett, 94, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Stanton, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014, in a Denton hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, December 12, 2014, at Gilbreath Funeral Home.She was born September 23, 1920 in Reagan, Texas and married Roy Pickett November 15, 1942 in El Paso, Texas. He preceded her in death September 8, 1991.Lucia graduated from Texas State Women's University, now TWU, in 1941 and moved to Stanton in 1952. She worked as a legal secretary for her husband and also for West Texas Abstract until she was 87 years old. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of First United Methodist Church, Stanton and was the church pianist and organist for 50 years. Lucia was an avid Texas A & M fan.She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Williams of Big Spring, Cindy Quy and husband, Rick of Spicewood and Kathryn Barber and husband, Glenn of Pilot Point; eight grandchildren, Robin Brumley and husband, Walter of Big Spring, Sheri Evans and companion, Robert Schoolcraft of Denton, Kelly McCarty and husband, Rich of Houston, David Quy and wife, Beth of Austin, Jason Williams and wife, Suzanne of San Antonio, Justin Barber and wife, Amy of Newell, Iowa, Amy Trevithick and husband, Craig of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mark Barber and wife, Sarah of Denton; eleven great-grandchildren, Emilea and Trey Brumley, Sheridon Evans, Alexis and Austin Barber, Harry and George McCarty, Hudson Williams, Carson and Caitlyn Trevithick and Anna Quy; and a niece, Shirley Cook of El Paso.She was also preceded in death by her parents, William George and Pauline Kirpatrick Robbins; two sisters, Edwina Evans and Anna Paul Miller; and her son-in-law, Don Williams.Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
