Retired Police Lt. Frederick W. Pace passed from this realm of life into eternal rest with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2002, on his 69th birthday, in a Lubbock hospital. Graveside funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, November 15, 2002, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Ralph Anderson, minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ, officiating. He was born on November 12, 1933 in Delta, Colorado and married Betty Caughey on December 1, 1956 in Big Spring, Texas. Lt. Pace entered the law enforcement field with the Big Spring Police Department in 1960. After three years he and his wife moved to his hometown of Delta, Colorado, where he served as Undersheriff of Delta County for ten years, then was elected Sheriff for six years. While Undersheriff he also worked as part-time Deputy U.S. Marshall for three years, declining the offer of a full-time position. Upon their return to Big Spring in 1979 due to the illness of Betty's father, he returned to work at the Big Spring Police Department, finally retiring in 1990 due to poor health. Lt. Pace never,
