Loye Carroll Loyd, born on May 19, 1926 in Yantis, Texas, to the late Ava Loyd and the late Edward Loyd, passed away at age 92 on July 14, 2018 in Midland, Texas. He attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and served in the Navy in World War II.In 1952 Loye married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Loyd (née Ray). Loye was an entrepreneur and savvy businessman, working in the Glass & Mirror industry as the owner of Glasco Glass Company in Midland, Texas. He was also an instrumental leader in the establishment of several other glass companies throughout his career. Loye was listed in Who’s Who in America for several consecutive years.Loye was preceded in death by his son, Stan Loyd; brother, Bob Loyd; and sisters, Nell Meaders and Ruth Fitzgerald. Loye is survived by his son, Terry Loyd and wife Nancy; sister, Dorothy Weir; grandchildren, Blake Loyd, Ashley Loyd Bradley and husband Chad, Krystal Loyd Neill and husband Brandon; and great-grandchildren, Leighton Bradley, Preslea Tindle, and baby girl Neill.Loye was a very caring and compassionate person, and always put the needs of others before himself. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was involved in every aspect of his family’s lives and who supported, respected, and loved his wife, Barbara, unconditionally. Loye was the ultimate example of a true man of God. He woke up early every morning to read his Bible and prayed devoutly for his family and friends each and every day. He believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing. He was a true servant of God and truly a one of a kind person. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland, and a past member of Midland Rotary Club and Glass Control.Friends and family members may attend the memorial service, officiated by Dr. Darin Wood, on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Chapel in Midland.
