Lovie "Sassy" RandolphLovie, "Sassy" Randolph passed away on Memorial Day, May 25, 2009. She was 93 years old. Sassy celebrated life and savored the joys of being with friends and family. She truly adored people and loved to laugh. Before suffering a stroke in January 2007, she lived independently where she enjoyed gardening, cooking for friends, singing, senior citizen dances, and was an active member of her retirement community, and faithful member of the Cotton Flat Baptist Church. After a stroke paralyzed her on her right side, she maintained her wonderful sense of humor and wit until the Lord called her home. Sassy was born, May 10, 1916, in Taylor, Arkansas to Ruffus and Betty Glass. She was married to Charles Elmer "Jack" Randolph on January 15, 1937 for 49 years before he passed away in 1986, just four months before their golden anniversary. Lovie and Jack lived most of their early-married life in Midland before moving to Baytown, Texas where they raised four children. Sassy returned to Midland in 1989 to be close to family.Sassy is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, son, Charles E. Randolph; grandson, Charles E "JuJu" Randolph Jr.; great-grandchildren Adam and Brittnee Wooster; five sisters: Selma Gordon, Dorothy Smith, Arline Smith, Viola Benson, Sybil Taylor; and 3 brothers: Rufus, Barney and C.E. "Shorty" Glass. She is survived by her daughters, Charlene Trimble and Martha Smith and husband Robert; son, Mark Randolph and wife Donna, all of Midland; sister Lossie Phillips of Spring Hill, LA; 10 grandchildren: Ray B. Wooster III and wife Lisa, Debra Johnson and husband Taz, Cindy Grimes, Jacqui Gilmore and husband Tom, Cindy Randolph, Christina Randolph, Betty Lynn Crowell and husband Randy, Melody Phillips and husband Wayne, Kim Randolph, Kellea Villarreal and husband Paul and Caleb Randolph and wife Rebecca; along with 25 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 28, at 4 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N. Big Spring Street, Midland, Texas and at 2: p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Cedar Crest Cemetery Pavilion in Baytown, Texas with interment immediately following.
