Louise Beverly Burgess, 91, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, after a brief illness. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at Mount Olive Memorial Park.She was born Carrie Annie Louise Beverly to Alton and Donie Heard Beverly in Randolph County, Alabama, March 29, 1917. Webb Air Force Base brought Smokey and Louise to Big Spring in 1961, where they retired in 1964. Smokey preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, and one grandson.She was a talented song writer and poet and loved performing for her church and friends. She was heavily involved in the weekend jamborees of the 1970s, and she has two poems buried in the 1976 Howard County Courthouse Time Capsule.She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Sharp and granddaughter, Marsha Sturdivant of Big Spring, grandson, Allen York, of New Braunfuls; great-grandchildren Jessyca Moore and her husband Brad of Forth Worth, Rachel Loftis of Kenosha, Wisconsin, MM2 Robert Loftis, stationed aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Michael Loftis, Thad Loftis and Alysha York, all of Big Spring, Kayli Stiles of Plano, Corey Allen York of New Braunfuls, John York of Amarillo; and and one great-great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Moore of Fort Worth.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
