Louise Ann Bennett Worthy, 77, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the St. Mary's Episcopal Church with Father Jim Liggett, pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Columbarium.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.Born on January 4, 1928 in Big Spring, Louise was the daughter of M.H. and Maude Bennett, a pioneer Big Spring family. Her father and grandfather, D.C. Bennett of Tennessee, were physicians. She was raised in Big Spring and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1944 and attended Sophie Newcomb College in Louisiana. She graduated from the University of Texas and received her medical degree from Tulane University. Louise served her first residencey at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and finished at Children's Hospital in Dallas. She returned to Big Spring in 1955 and married Jerry Needham Worthy on October 12, 1956. She had practiced in Big Spring for 43 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.Survivors include her husband, Jerry Worthy of Big Spring; one daughter, Ann Worthy of Wellington, New Zealand; one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Michelle Worthy of Big Spring; one grandson, Jerry Bennett Worthy of Big Spring; two brothers-in-law, Tom Worthy of Stuart, Florida and Bob Worthy of Houston and one nephew, Tommy Worthy of Chicago, Illinois.She was preceded in death by one son, Jeb Worthy. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, P.O.
