Louis Simonek, 74, of Stanton, died on Thursday, December 7, 2006, in the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 11, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Stanton with, Rev. Bob Porterfield, pastor of West Kentucky Baptist Church in Midland, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery Stanton. The family will receive friends, Sunday, December 10, from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. He was born on March 11, 1932, in Caldwell, Texas and married Mary Lou Hammontree on February 3, 1952 in Big Spring, Texas. Louis served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in Stanton for 48 years retiring in 1999. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed going to the horse races. Playing the lottery and sipping coffee with the good old boys. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Simonek of Stanton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis and Kim Simonek of Lewisville, Kenneth Simonek of Dallas, and Ronald and Jill Simonek of Big Spring, one daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Ricky Whitaker of Haltom City; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sharon Simonek of Waco; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lydia Fisher and Millie and Bob Bassett all of Lubbock; 8 grandchildren, Gena, Michelle, Elizabeth, Emily, Janis, Nicky, Nathan and Jason and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Simonek, his parents, one sister and one brother. The family suggests memorials made to Martin County Sr. Citizens-Meals, P.O.
