Louis Joseph Beique, 95, of Midland, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at his home. The family will be accepting guests from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 with a Remembrance and Rosary Service following at 6:30 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2018 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.Louis was born on December 19, 1922 in Montreal Quebec, Canada, to Eugene R. and Maria (Emond) Beique. Louis joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the beginning of World War II, saw action as a submarine hunter over the Atlantic Ocean and began his long association as an aviator, piloting both powered and unpowered aircraft for many years to come. After the war, Louis attended McGill University (Montreal), and graduated with a degree in Geophysics in 1949. He began his career as a mining geologist and survived several mining “mishaps.” It was during his recovery after one of these mishaps that he met and married the love of his life, Renee Demers, on May 5, 1951. He vowed to never go underground again and changed his direction to petroleum geology. After a round-about journey including Montana and the Dakotas, Western Canada, Texas, and France, Louis and Renee settled for good in Midland, Texas. Louis enjoyed a successful career finding and “geo-psyching” for oil and gas. There they learned to love a city filled with friends, all from “somewhere else,” many of whom became their extended family. Louis never forgot his roots and returned to Canada with his family almost every summer to visit relatives and enjoy the beauty of the Laurentian Mountains. Louis was known for his generosity, giving his time and resources to his family, his church, and many charities.Louis is survived by Renee, his wife of 66 years; his son, Louis Ferguson and wife Denise; daughter, Susanne Beique; son, Marc Beique and wife Kathy; son, Jean-Michel and wife Dana; and son, Paul Beique and partner Maria. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Charles and Rene.We will miss him dearly, cherish the life that we shared with this good Catholic and find comfort knowing that the angels will carry him to his place in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Kelsey Logan Angel Fund or the charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
