Lorraine Shirley, 79, of Kingsland, formerly of Big Spring, died in Austin, Texas on September 25, 2009. The daughter of Joseph and Tracy Velcheck Ludwig, she was born on April 15, 1930 in Rudyard, Montana. She attended Columbus School of Nursing in Great Falls, Montana and married Tom Shirley in Hingham, Montana, moving to Big Spring, Texas in 1952. She worked as an RN for Malone-Hogan Hospital from 1953 to 1983 where she was awarded the Dr. Frist Humanitarian Award in 1975 for her dedication and love of her patients. Lorraine enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Shirley of Kingsland, Texas; three children and their spouses, Mary Anne and Randy Law of Agency, Missouri, Karen and Steve Fraser of Kingsland, Texas and Tom and Lori Shirley of Sugarland, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Kristi Bongers and husband, Peter of San Diego, California, Valerie Law of Kansas City, Missouri, Matthew Fraser of Chicago, Illinois, Lauren Fraser of Dallas, Texas, Taylor Fraser of Austin, Texas, Payton Shirley, Pierson Shirley, Berkley Shirley, Connor Corporon, McKenna Corporon and Calie Corporon all of Sugarland, Texas; two brothers, Tom Ludwig and wife, Pat of Chester, Montana and Ted Ludwig and wife, Esther of El Cajon, California; three sisters, Virgie Toner of Gilford, Montana, Ruthie Simon of Seattle, Washington and Irene McMaster and husband, Wally of Spokane, Washington; and 71 nephews and nieces.She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Junior, Lee and Roger Ludwig; and two sisters, Evelyn Little and Ethel Carr.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Putnam Funeral Home Chapel in Kingsland, Texas. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, Texas.
