In Loving Memory of Lorinda Herrod
September 27, 1958 – October 20, 2026
Lorinda Herrod, of Big Spring, Texas, was born on September 27, 1958, in Norman, Oklahoma. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of those who knew her. Above all, Lorinda knew the Lord and carried her faith with her throughout her life, finding joy and purpose in serving Him and loving others.
One of Lorinda’s greatest passions was sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone she met. Her faith was not simply something she believed; it was something she lived and eagerly shared with others. She never missed an opportunity to tell someone about the love, grace, and saving power of Jesus. Whether through a conversation, a word of encouragement, or her involvement in Christian fellowship, Lorinda wanted others to know the Lord personally and experience the hope she found in Him. Her desire to share the Good News was a beautiful reflection of her love for Christ and her heart for people.
Lorinda was deeply involved in the Emmaus community, where she shared in the fellowship of believers and grew in her walk with Christ. Her involvement in Emmaus reflected her love for the Lord and her desire to encourage others in their own spiritual journeys. She also held a special love for Circle 6 Camp, a place that brought her joy and held a treasured place in her heart.
Family was one of the greatest blessings of Lorinda’s life. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family and found great joy in the generations that followed her. Her family was a beautiful part of her legacy, and the love she shared with them will continue through the generations.
Lorinda’s love for her family extended beyond her children and grandchildren. Her love, warmth, and genuine care for her family created memories that will be treasured for years to come. Family was never just about a name or a relationship to Lorinda; it was about the love, connection, and time shared with the people who meant so much to her.
Lorinda is survived by her father, Jim, and his wife, Sue; her children, Mandi, Nathan and his wife, Lisa, Dustin and his wife, Ginger, and Jordan and his wife, Kaity; her siblings, Alan, Crystal, James, and Angela and her husband, Darrell; her grandchildren, Nate, Kaylie, Austin, Lorelei, Preslee, and Boone; her great-grandson, Thomas; and her beloved nieces and nephews, Kris, Annabelle, Shawn, Chris, Cody, Justin, Amelia, Heather, Amy, and Melissa.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Glenda, and her sister, Lisa.
Though her family and friends will deeply miss her presence, they can find comfort in the promises of God and the assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. For those who share Lorinda’s faith, this promise offers hope in the midst of sorrow and peace in knowing that death is not the end.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Spring Creek Church in Big Spring, Texas, on November 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Signal Mountain Christian Community.
In true Lorinda fashion, family and friends are encouraged to wear bright colors to celebrate her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought into their lives. Everyone is also invited to share a favorite story or special memory of Lorinda as we gather to honor her life, laugh together, remember the moments that made her special, and give thanks for the blessing she was to so many.
Lorinda’s life was a testimony to the importance of faith, family, and fellowship. Her love for Jesus, her passion for sharing the Gospel, and her willingness to tell others about the Lord will remain an enduring part of her legacy. The memories she leaves behind, the relationships she nurtured, and the love she gave will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
While her earthly journey has come to an end, her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at home with her Savior. We can imagine her hearing those precious words from Matthew 25:21: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
May Lorinda rest in the everlasting peace of the Lord, and may her family find strength and comfort in His love until the day they are reunited in His presence. Her earthly voice may be silent, but the message she spent her life sharing—the saving love of Jesus Christ—will continue through all those she touched.
