Lorene Barbee, 70, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at the Hospice House in Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, November 5, 2007 at the Coahoma United Methodist Church with Rev. Donita Lee, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.She was born on July 31, 1937, in Wingate, Texas and married Jarrell Barbee on May 24, 1955 in Stanton, Texas. He preceded in death on April 6, 2004.Jessie graduated and was the Valedictorian of Stanton High School in May of 1955. She taught private piano lessons, math and computer at Coahoma High School from 1974 to 1982, and computer at Howard College until 1997. She was a member of the Permian Historical Society, held offices in the Howard County Historical Commission, and contributed articles in The Permian Historical Annual. Mrs. Barbee was a long-time church organist and a member of Coahoma United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Amy D. Choate of Coahoma, and Polly J. Campbell and husband, Jay, of Merkel; four sons, Michael J. Barbee of Irving, Timothy R. Barbee and wife, Mona, of Arlington, David C. Barbee and wife, Tabitha, and Neal B. Barbee and wife, Lori, all of Big Spring; six grandchildren, Chad Winn and wife, Erica, of Forney, and April Choate of Coahoma, Lane Campbell and Trent Campbell of Merkel, Melanie Barbee and Justin Barbee of Arlington, Corey Green, Rachel Barbee, and Devin Barbee all of Big Spring; her mother, Era Burns of Big Spring; and one brother, Bill Burns and wife, Pat, of Goldthwiate.She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Burns.
