Lonnie Joe Taylor

Lonnie Joe Taylor passed away to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2025.  He will lie in state Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 9am-9pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 5pm-7pm.  Graveside services will be held at 10am, Friday, August 22, 2025 at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Pastor Derrick Looney, officiating.

He was born January 14, 1944 in Big Spring, Texas to parents Winfred Taylor and Ruth Graham Taylor. He made his home in Ackerly, Texas.  He worked in the oil field industry all of his life and farmed on the side.  He loved “The Farm” and his horses.  He was passionate about horse racing and owned many racehorses.  He was also a member of Knott Church of Christ.  Lonnie loved his family and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Pat Billings Taylor, daughter Shanna Gibson (Brian) and son Doyce Taylor (Belinda).  He is survived also by two stepdaughters Laurie Clemons (Marc) and Missy Irwin (Coy); 8 grandchildren Kyle Gibson, Rowdy Clary, Chance Taylor, Sidney Gibson, Jaylen Reed, Jordyn Reed, Emma Irwin and Hunter Irwin, along with two great grandchildren Cole Gibson and Riley Gibson, sister Winnie Looney and brother Ronnie Dean Taylor (D’Aun).
