Lon Hubert Pardue

Lon departed this world on Saturday, August 1st, 2026. His life may have ended on this day but it began on September 19th, 1937, in El dorado, KS. Lon was the first of two sons by Clifford and Dolly Pardue; His brother Bill would come along a few years later.

Lon spent his childhood years in the fields of Kansas chasing quail and pheasants and fishing in farm ponds.  After high school Lon heard his country calling and joined the United States Marine Corps. He completed boot camp in San Diego, CA and was stationed in 29 Palms as well as Okinawa, Japan. While in the Marines Lon decided to attend college because he saw how differently the officers had it versus the enlisted men. His decision to attend college led him to what is now known as Texas A&M University (it was the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas then). He studied and degreed in mechanical engineering in May 1963. His time at college wasn’t all books and tests as he found the time to meet the love of his life, Patricia Morrow (Pardue). Lon and Pat were married on September 9th, 1961. The only thing that would keep them apart was Lon’s hunting and fishing trips, and his passing a few days ago.

Upon graduation from college, Lon began his career with Union Oil of California where he worked as a petroleum engineer until his retirement in 1992. Just as his career started, his first son Mike was born, followed by his second son Troy, five years later.

Lon’s career took him from the oil fields of the Permian Basin to Moab, UT, Lovington, NM, Casper, WY and working trips to Canada and Washington D.C.

Lon knew early on that he was blessed and wanted to help others feel the same. He volunteered his time with MARC, the food pantry, counseling people with budgeting & finances and building homes with Habitat for Humanity. Lon also wanted others to know the lord like he did and was deeply involved with Walks to Emmaus and prison ministries.  When Lon had any free time, he would spend it traveling with Pat or out in his shop where he had taught himself to be a great wood worker.

Lon accomplished many things throughout his life but the one that meant the most to him was his family. Lon leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Pat Pardue, his brother William Pardue, his two sons; Michael Lon Pardue and wife Tammy and Robert Troy Pardue and wife Kandi. His three grandkids; Tiffany Corson, Bethany Campbell and Jordan Pardue. His six great grandchildren; Everett and Stanley Corson, Elena, Mia and Mason Campbell and Jackson Pardue.

Visitation will be held 5:00 pm-7:00 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will take place 1:30 pm at First Methodist Church Chapel with burial following at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
