Lois "Happy" Murphree, 91, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Herb McPherson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born on January 6, 1913, in Lamesa, Texas and married Loyd G. Murphree on December 31, 1933 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1995.Mrs. Murphree had lived in Big Spring since 1918. She was family oriented, taking care of her husband and children. She was concerned for others in the community, especially the neighborhood children.She had served the Lord faithfully for many years. Mrs. Murphree was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 50 plus years; a Sunday School teacher for years and in later years was a student of the Sunday School Class.Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Sherrie Murphree of Odessa and Duane and Laura Murphree of Big Spring; three sisters, Theda Kyle of Roswell, New Mexico and Elsie Wood and Wanda Ford both of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Jeff Murphree and wife, Melinda, Mark Murphree and wife, Yasmin, Brian Murphree, Valerie Murphree, Jana Murphy and husband, Terry, Jason Murphree and Becky Murphree; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ralph Murphree and two grandsons, Scott and Marlon Murphree.The family will be at the Duane Murphree home at 2919 MacAuslan.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
