Starting piano lessons at a young age, her love of music- especially classical and religious- continued throughout her life. While attending Texas State College for Women (Texas Women's University), she majored in Piano and was allowed to give her junior recital her sophomore year. Her happiest moments involved music – whether playing in string ensembles, playing for various church activities or simply playing for family and friends. When teaching piano she hoped her students would derive as much pleasure from music as she did. In her later years she was thankful she could still play hymns even though arthritis had ravaged her hands and fingers. She gave God the glory for her musical talents. Marrying on May 7, 1949, she and Joe lived the majority of their life together in Midland. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe, her sister Helen and her brother J.C.Survivors are her daughter Helen and son-in-law Karl.
