Leta C. Kirby, 93, of Big Spring, Texas joined her loving husband in the arms of Christ on December 12, 2021. Services will be at 2:00 pm on December 15, 2021 at Trinity Memorial Park Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas.

Leta was born on April 25, 1928, in Big Spring, Texas to Nellie and Dilworth “Shorty” Thompson. She married the love of her life, Milton Kirby on October 21, 1947. A lifelong resident of Big Spring, Leta served in many capacities while worshipping at East 4th Baptist Church. She was active in the Lion’s Club, served at the election’s office, kept children in her home, and provided tax services for over 40 years. She was an avid collector of Santa figures and irons and enjoyed showing them to friends and loved ones. Traveling was also a passion of Leta’s and she kept detailed notes of her trips while married to Milton and as a widow.

Leta is survived by her son, Milton Lynn (Nancy) Kirby and daughter Cathey Ann (Richard) Murray; grandchildren, Marty (Sandra) Kirby, Julia (Eric) Vickery, Sean (Tina) Gaines, Ashlea (Josh Kemper) White, Mark Kirby, and Terri Lynn (Ray) Ortega, and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Leta is preceded in death by her husband, parents, all her brothers and sisters, and great granddaughter, Zara Kemper.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Star Hospice and Ashton Medical Lodge for their kindness, compassion, care, and reminders to bring peppermints. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a favorite nonprofit.

So sorry for your loss. My mother-in-law, Maria Cervantes, cleaned house for Mrs. Kirby for a number of years. I believe, in the last few years, it was more visiting than cleaning. I know she was one of my mother-in-law's favorites. My mother-in-law passed in 2018 but she always remembered Mrs Kirby.
