Leonard R. Shoemaker, 76, of Stanton, Texas, died on Sunday, May 15, 2005, in the In House Hospice Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton with Rev. Daniel Armstrong, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Stanton officiating. He was born on March 6, 1929, in Martin County, Texas and married Elizabeth Creech on December 13, 1949 in Stanton, Texas. Mr. Shoemaker was a lifelong resident of Martin County. He enjoyed 4-H Livestock Shows and drinking coffee with his friends at the Coop Gin. He was a farmer and rancher and worked for CRMWD for 17 years retiring in 1991. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Beth Shoemaker of Stanton; one son, Kevin Kyle Shoemaker of Stanton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Trina Shoemaker of Houston and Trica and Steve Cook of Stanton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Gene Clements of Stanton and Shirley and Duane Connell of Brookesmith; 2 grandsons, Nathan Cook of Dallas and Brady Cook of Lubbock and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Linsey Shoemaker. The family suggests memorials to: Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit Midland Memorial Hospital, P.O.
