Leonard Eugene Posey, 76, of Big Spring, died on Monday, October 22, 2007, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Steven King, pastor of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at the Grape Creek Cemetery in Grape Creek, Texas.The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.He was born on January 29, 1931, in San Angelo, Texas and married Rosie Nutt on May 26, 1955 in San Angelo.Leonard served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1970, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He then worked for the Texas Highway Department for 20 years, retiring in 1992.He was a member of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church. He was also a member of Staked Plains Lodge #598 A.F. & A.M., was a life member of VFW Post 4372 in Odessa, and a member of the American Legion Post 506. Leonard had served as past president of the Forsan ISD School Board, was past president of RSVP and had volunteered at the V. A. Medical Center for 15 years.Survivors include his wife, Rosie Posey of Big Spring; two daughters, Edith Baker and husband, Alvin of Coahoma and Elizabeth Taylor of Waco; two sons, Gary Strickland of Cartersville, Georgia and Tom Posey of Big Spring; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
