Leo Lawson, 88, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Saturday, July 28, 2001, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Claude Craven, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on January 5, 1913 in Stephenville, Texas and married Laura Gene Hinson on May 22, 1937 in Big Spring. Mr. Lawson grew up in Ackerly and lived in Big Spring for a short time after they married. He worked for Exxon Oil Company, retiring in 1978 after more than 32 years of service. He was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon in the First Baptist Church in Big Lake, Texas in 1954 and has served for 47 years in different churches. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Laura Gene Lawson; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Randy Isler; two granddaughters, Christie Wente and husband, Will, and Laura Isler all of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
