Leigh Anne McGill, affectionately known as "Queenie" by her family and all of her close friends left her home on Thursday morning to forever dwell in the House of her Lord, Jesus Christ. Graveside Service will be held Monday, October 12, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Pastor Lowell Cessna officiating. Queenie was born in Andrews, Texas to Clara and Sam McGill on May 24, 1961. In 1967, Queenie and her family moved to Midland where she attended Midland public schools, graduating from Lee High School in 1979. The road to higher education took Queenie to San Marcos where she attended Southwest Texas State University until she returned to Midland after her father's death in 1985. Queenie earned her real estate license and was also an entrepreneur of other business over the years such as Graphic Systems, in Midland, Texas and later, Softspas of Austin.Because of Queenie's love for Austin and the Texas hill country, she lived between the Midland and Austin areas over the last twenty years. Queenie had a great love for animals, plants, antiques and other collectibles and she was very knowledgeable about almost everything. If there was something that she didn't know about she was passionate about finding the information on it and enthusiastically sharing it with others. Another passion in Queenie's life was rescuing and caring for dogs and other helpless creatures. Two of Queenie's rescue dogs, Baby and Llano, were her constant companions over the past several years.Queenie is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her siblings, Pat Harris and husband, George; Cindy McGill-Reeves; Sam McGill and wife, Becca; nephews, Bryan Richardson; Wes Reeves and wife Breanne; nieces, Charissa Reeves, Brittney Cook, and Kristin Richardson, all of Midland.In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Home Hospice of Midland PO Box 2621 Midland, TX 79702Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
