“Most of all the great people I have known and loved are not famous movers and shakers, but have served their fellow man and God by doing their simple tasks on earth. They will have their fame in heaven!”Lee Russell Ansley, 89 lived his life this way and passed away on June 18, 2017.Lee was born on September 20, 1927 in Anson, Texas to Russell Gordon Ansley and Annie Lee Summers Ansley.Lee entered the U. S. Navy on June 2, 1945, to see the world. After serving his country, Lee worked in his father’s meat market in Odessa, Texas and then attended Texas Tech. After college, Lee returned to Odessa where he met Dorothy Mauldin. Their first date was to Balmorhea, Texas on July 4, 1950 and they married on January 27, 1951.Lee worked for Gulf Oil Company, Getty Oil Company and retired with Texaco. After retirement, Lee and Dorothy enjoyed visiting their vacation home in Fort Davis, Texas and moved there full time in 2003. They moved to Midland in 2010 to be near family.Lee was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Dixie Jewel Pogue and Ella May Harris.Lee is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy and their children, Russ Ansley and wife Sheri of Lewisville, Texas and daughter Kay Bartlett and husband Frank of Midland, Texas.Lee’s grandchildren include Tulsi Ansley McFerren of Manor, Texas, Andrew Bartlett, Allyson Bartlett Munoz and Josh Bartlett all of Midland and 12 great grandchildren.Private burial will be conducted in London, Texas.The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Ana Francisco and the staff at Mabee Health Care Center.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
