Laylan Paul Musick Sr., 80, of Eastland, Texas, passed away with his family by his side on May 24, 2025. Laylan was born in Tahoka, Texas on May 30, 1944 to Randolph Wilton (RW) and Frankie Harlee Davis Musick. He married Joyce Genell Ghormley on June 10, 1967.
He attended schools in the Tahoka ISD and attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa Ok., where he graduated with a degree in aircraft mechanics. He worked many years with spray planes (crop dusters) and in the oil field. He enjoyed flying light aircraft with his family and friends. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church where he was referred to as a pillar to many pastors. He enjoyed archeology and searching for Indian artifacts on the great plains of Texas. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Indian Nation.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Genell Musick of the home, one sister Eva Gayle Musick, two daughters Melody Musick Stowe and husband Kenneth of Dallas, TX, Lawanna Briseno and husband Mike, grandchildren Franchesca, Lance and Trevor Briseno and great grandson Atticus Briseno, all of Lakeside, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Laylan Paul Musick Jr., and a brother Richard Musick.
Laylan will lie in state for viewing from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Tuesday May 27th for family and friends at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, Big Spring, TX.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday May 28th at 10:00 AM at Nevels Memorial Cemetery, Tahoka Texas.
