Lawrence Reagan "Larry" Wheat was born, November 16, 1961, in Big Spring, Texas to Walter Lee and Frances Reagan Wheat. A fourth generation resident of Howard County, he graduated from Big Spring High School where he excelled in band, choir, and drama. He attended Texas Christian University studying under the world renowned Lili Kraus earning a Bachelor of Piano Performance. He then went on to attend the University of Texas and received a Masters Degree in Architecture.Larry resided in Dallas and worked for various architectural firms. At the time of his death he was a self-employed architect. He was a member of the Dallas City Planning Commission and was an advocate for urban renewal within the city. He was chairman of the Zoning Ordinance Advisory Committee and had also previously served on the Dallas Community Development Commission.Larry had an intense passion for the arts and was an accomplished musician as well as an artist. He played a variety of instruments and owned a beautiful singing voice. He was a featured pianist at many national and international festivals. He was greatly loved by children and was especially fond of his younger cousins and niece and nephew. His family knew him as an extremely intelligent and artistic young man.Larry was preceded in death by his father, Walter Lee Wheat and both his grandfathers, James F. Wheat and Horace B. Reagan. He is survived by his mother, Frances Reagan Wheat St. Clair, and her husband, Ted St. Clair of San Angelo; his sister, Elise Wheat Kail, and her husband, Shane, and their children, Samantha Lee and Sloan Howard of Midland; his grandmothers, Hazel S. Reagan of Waco and Dessie D. Wheat of Weatherford. He is also survived by his "acquired" sisters and brothers, Dr. Martin and Paula Miser, Louis and Virginia Dorton, Susannah and Jake all of Lubbock; Ted St. Clair, Jr., Steven, Sam and Anne and Basil St. Clair of Ft. Worth. In addition he is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.There will be a private burial in Big Spring at Mt. Olive Memorial Park and a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel, in Big Spring, Texas. Visitation will be at 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lucy Bonner, PO Box 2121, Big Spring, Texas 79721-2121; the Rotary Foundation Polio Eradication, Rotary Club of San Angelo, PO Box 249, San Angelo, Texas 76902; or the West Texas Boy's Ranch Foundation, PO Box 4077, San Angelo, Texas 76902.
