Lawrence E. "Larry" McColloch, 84, of Odessa, died on Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas Veterans Home in Big Spring. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Odessa with Rev. Blossom Matthews, associate pastor, officiating.He was born on August 20, 1920, in Burlington, Iowa and married Beverly Williams on January 4, 1981 in Odessa, Texas.Larry graduated from Burlington High School in Burlington, Iowa in 1939. He attended Texas Tech University on a basketball scholarship, and received his Bachelor's Degree. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and in 1946, he received his Master's Degree in Education from Texas Tech.Larry moved to Memphis, Texas in 1946. He taught and was head basketball coach at Memphis High School for three years. In 1949, his team won the State Championship and he was named Coach of the Year. He then moved to Big Spring where he taught and coached for three years at the high school. In 1952, he moved to Odessa and was the head basketball coach, Athletic Director and Chairman of the Physical Education Department at Odessa College, retiring in 1989. He was the second person inducted into the Odessa College Hall of Honor on May 5, 1998.He had many hobbies including dancing, hunting arrowheads, rock polishing, making jewelry and wood carving.Larry was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Odessa and the Wesley Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #955 in Odessa and had been a Mason for over 60 years, and was a member of the MCH Auxiliary for over 10 years.Survivors include his wife, Beverly McColloch of Odessa; two sons & daughters-in-law, Kevin and Debbie McColloch of Houston and David and Terri McColloch of Greenwood; six grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Melissa, Michael, A. J. and Blake; four step-children, Kenneth Williams of Atlanta, Texas, Janice Williams-Leyba of Mons, Belgium, Barbara and John Monrad of Southlake and Joel and Brenda Williams of Caddo Mills; 14 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie Sullivan of Des Moines, Iowa.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bertha McColloch; and one brother, Edward McColloch. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to, First United Methodist Church, Children's Clothes Closet, 415 N.
