LaWanda Corrine Hamm died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in a local nursing home. She was 89 years old and was born March 20, 1927 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She resided in Big Spring since 1951.Family visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Pastor Billy Guy of Full Gospel Fellowship officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.In the early 1960's, LaWanda owned the first pizza restaurant in Big Spring, \LaWanda's Ranch Inn Pizza House\. She also worked at Webb AFB and sold Tupperware for decades. She worked with the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery and Relay for Life for many years. LaWanda was known to unselfishly and lovingly help her family and community members throughout her life, and provided a \home away from home\ for many young men in the military. LaWanda accepted Christ as her Savior in 1975 and her membership is at the Nazarene Church.LaWanda is survived by her daughter, Deborah Sue Perkins and husband, Dwight of Big Spring; two step-sons, Charles Edward \Butch\ Hamm, Jr. and wife, Janet of Freemont, Indiana and Steven Phillip Hamm of Big Spring; a step-daughter, Karen Ann Griffith and husband, Dale of Willow Park; two sisters, Ida Lou Morgan of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Deloris Albert of Big spring; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Charles E. Hamm; her parents, Glen Almon Lewis and Iva Alice Lewis Tripp; three sons, Ronald Jay Goforth, Donald Keith and Dennis Wayne Yager; two daughters, Sharon Earline Goforth and Tawanna Lee Bailey; three brothers, Ivan, Marvin and Merle Lewis; one sister, Glenda Griffin Timmons; one grandson and one great-grandson.
