LaVerne Seppie, 91, of Midland passed away on February 12, 2008 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 11:00 am at the St. Stephen's Catholic Church with Father James Bridges officiating. LaVerne was born on February 25, 1916 in Clyde, Texas to John and Zadie Campbell. She grew up and attended schools in New Mexico. LaVerne met her husband Albert Seppie while attending college in Las Cruces, NM. Albert and LaVerne were married on September 21, 1937 in Dawson, NM. She worked for Denver public schools and was a cook for 3 years, she also drove a Red Cross van in Denver as well as volunteering as a pink lady in the hospital in California, but most of her time was spent being a homemaker and mother. LaVerne was a founding member of the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Denver and was involved in the sewing circle at the church.Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Rupert (Frank) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; granddaughter, Joy Chatham (William) of Midland; two great-granddaughters, Lisa Michele Chatham of San Francisco, California; and Shannon Christie Sluyter of Rockhill, South Carolina; grandson, Lee Sluyter of Panama City, Florida; and great-grandson, Landon Kale Sluyter of Rockhill, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her parents, and two brothers, Olan Campbell and Ray Campbell.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
