Laverne Hopper, 81, of Stanton, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in a hospice unit at a Midland hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Stanton. She was born on July 21, 1927, in Stanton, Texas and married Allan T. Hopper on November November 16, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas. Laverne was a hairdresser for many years and worked at the Martin County Tax Office for 3 years. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering and crocheting. Survivors include husband, Allan Hopper of Stanton; one daughter, Linda Hopper Grissam and husband, Tommy of Big Spring; two sons, Kenneth Hopper and wife, Jan of Coppell and Johnny Hopper and wife Linda Kay of Stanton; six grandchildren, Brandon Hopper, Bryan Garner, Candy Ulmer, J. L. Hopper, Kyle Grissam and Courtney Grissam; ten great grandchildren, Jacob Ulmer, Sarah Ulmer, Wesley Ulmer, Christopher, Dusty and Amber Hopper, Alina, Riley and Austin Hopper and Dustin Williams and one sister, Elsie Mae Ervin of Midland. She was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Wilma Young, one grandson, Cory Hopper one brother, J.T. Young and one sister, Francis Doshier.
