Lavern Long, 85, of Big Spring, was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 1, 2007, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.She was born on November 28, 1921, in Howard County, Texas and married Omer Ray Long on March 23, 1940 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1976.Lavern enjoyed spending time with her family and liked reading and playing bingo. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was very active.Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Delton Long of Mahtomedi, Minnesota and Vernon and Diana Long of Strawplains, Tennesee; two daughters & sons-in-law, Norma and Al Keeton of Canyon Lake and Marlene and Raymond Rigoli of Buchanan Dam; seven grandchildren, Randy and Kristi Long of Mahtomedi, Minnesota, Ronnie and Selina Long of Manor, Alan and Mystie Rapp of Haltom City, Shane Rapp of Canyon Lake, Julie and Matt Weller of Buchanan Dam, Stephanie and Brian Mock of Austin and Codie Long of Orlando, Florida; and 12 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister. The family suggests memorials to Trinity Baptist Church, P.O.
