LaVelle Stewart, 92 of Midland, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017. The family will be accepting guests at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.LaVelle was born on September 24, 1925 in Houston Texas to Ervin H. and Ruth H. Koch. She attended high school at John Reagan High School in Houston, where she graduated in 1942. It was during her time at Reagan that she met and fell in love with Wendell Stewart, who she married on a furlough on February 16th, 1944. After the war, she and Wendell moved to Austin, where he attended the University of Texas. She promptly presented him with twins, Cheryl and Errol. After graduation the family moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and LaVelle gave birth to her third child Stephen. It was here that she developed the characteristics of service, devotion and care that would be the passion and driving force of her life.In 1959, Lavelle and family moved to Midland where she lived the remainder of her life. During those years she dedicated her life to family, church and community. After the death of her husband, Wendell, she joined St. Paul Methodist and was a constant presence there, teaching multiple classes and seminars and becoming a volunteer for hospice. She founded a back-pack ministry, providing food for needy local school children. Her devotion to the needs of others and her constant and tireless attention to family, friends and church were the hallmark of her daily life. Nothing was more important to LaVelle than God, family, and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.She is survived by her son, Stephen Stewart and his wife Dixie; daughter, Cheryl Warden; grandson, Eric Stewart and his wife Sally; granddaughter, Heather Ramirez; and great grandchildren, Zane Ramirez, Zachary Ramirez, Victoria Stewart, Ian Stewart, Zaden Ramirez, and Farrah Stewart.She is preceded in death by her father, Ervin Koch; son, Errol Stewart; husband Wendell Stewart; son-in-law, Lewis Warden; and her mother Ruth Koch.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of MidlandThe family would like to express their gratitude towards the countless individuals that were a part of LaVelle's life and all the continued support through their love, thoughts and prayers.,
