LaNell Joy Honeyman, 71, of Midland passed away on Tuesday, February 7^th, 2023. Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Midland.

LaNell was born on March 21^st, 1951 in Hettinger, North Dakota to Bennie and Donelda Oberlander. She married the love of her life Leslie Robert Honeyman on June 12^th, 1969 shortly following her high school graduation. She began a family with her husband in New Orleans, Louisiana with the birth of their first son Jeb. 3 years later the couple moved to Midland, Texas and welcomed a second son BJ. From then on, her family, her heart, and her work remained in Midland. After graduating from UTPB she began a career focused on serving others—one of her great passions. She worked for the Rape Crisis Center, the Gladney Center for Adoption, and Manor Park. Above her work, she relished volunteering and served on a number of boards and committees.

LaNell loved her friends, her church and above all her family. She was a beaming joy of light that shined in everyone’s life. She never met a stranger and had a unique ability to make everyone she met feel as if they were the most important person in her life. She was a woman of great passion, incredible dedication, and an unquenchable joy that enveloped everyone around her. Her deepest love was reserved for her family: her sons and daughters-in-law, her siblings, and extended family would all attest to this. She saved a special measure of love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever remember her as “Lala.”

LaNell was preceded in death by her mother Donelda, her father Bennie, her husband Les, and her daughter Melanie. She is survived by her siblings Dean, Don, Janine, and Jack, her sons Jeb and BJ, her daughters –in-law Jennifer and Rachel, her grandchildren Tyler, Drew, Jack, Lily, Autumn, Zach, Elli, Lindsey, and Hailey, and her great-grandchildren Bryson, Owen, Harper, Hazel, and Jolie.

The family would like to express deep gratitude for the love and support of all of their friends, family, and church family. You have made a powerful and lasting difference.

LaNell was one of my favorite volunteers when we worked together at the Midland Chamber/Leadership Midland. Such a joy to be around! Prayers for her loved ones.

It is so sad to hear this news. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends. My sister Terri was a friend of hers and always spoke of her kindness. When my sister died I got a call from LaNell, that to this day I can remember she put a calmness over my inability to accept the death of my sister dying so young. It was so thoughtful and so beautiful. Thank you and I believe LaNell has touched more lives in her kind and caring ways. Beverly

So sorry about the passing of LaNell. She was a long time friend, was a member of GeoWives with her and enjoyed many times with her at Elegance Ballroom Dance Club. We also spent many hours at physical therapy. She was a very caring and generous person and will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers will be with her family during this difficult time. Thoughts and prayers to all of you LaNell will be greatly missed. Even though we didn’t, get to see each other often she was thought of often. Really do miss the family gatherings seems about the only time cousins got to see each other.

We are heart broken at the loss of such a beautiful lady and soul. Our family will think of her often with a smile on our faces. She was such a blessing to have in our lives. To Jeb and BJ and all of LaNell's family, Vicky and I were so saddened when we learned of LaNell's passing. You have our prayers and deepest condolences. She was one of the first people we met at St. Nicholas in early 1984 and I remember her telling me that first Sunday we attended that her husband is the "big guy in the choir". We have so many meaningful memories of LaNell , primarily church related, as we worshiped there for the next 34+ years, until we moved from Midland. She leaves quite a legacy and set a good example for us all.

Jeb & BJ, I’m sure you won’t remember me but our family & your family were neighbors when you were little boys. We lived on Ward St. & our sons are about the same age as you guys. We had some good times visiting each other back in the day when you & our Jeremy could ride your bicycles to each other’s house! Steve & I lost touch with your mom & dad when we moved to Stanton but we did run into them once in a while. In fact, I saw & visited shortly with your mom several months ago. And we were always aware of your mom’s service in so many different areas in Midland. The obituary describes her exactly. She was a precious lady & will be missed by many. Our prayers are with y’all & your families.

Prayers for the whole family. LaNell was a very special person. So loving and kind. She counseled me through my Gladney experience along with so many others who I know were greatly impacted by her love and help. All of my love to her kids and grandchildren.

LaNell, you were one of the nicest and caring lady I’ve ever met. When my mother was at Manor Park, you always made sure she was taken care of. You’ve earned so many stars in Heaven, enjoy them now, and rest in HIS comfort. You were, and still are loved by so many.

I worked with LaNell at Manor Park and her smile would light up a room! She talked about her family all the time so you could tell she was very proud of them. I enjoyed listening to her laugh and she brought joy to everyone she met! She will truly be missed!

Jeb and BJ, My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mother. A wonderful woman, a great friend, and a great mother and grand to all of her children. the world is a lesser place with her gone from among us. My God comfort you in this time of sadness but find comfort that she and your father are again reunited in each other's loving arms. Beautiful words, all very true. LaNell could and would light up any room she entered. She made everyone feel special, including every animal she encountered. We loved her and will miss her. I bless God for her presence in my life.

I’m so sorry that we have lost LaNell. She was a social butterfly and an awesome lady to be around. I’m so proud to call her sister-in-law. Love all of you so much!

I am deeply saddened to hear the passing of your mom. I was just at her lovely home on January 26th where she graciously invited me to stay again. I have truly enjoyed getting to know LaNell. Her smile and warmth I will never forget. She was so proud of her family and looked forward to upcoming trips to Italy and Kentucky. I still can't believe she is gone. LaNell’s passing has left such a hole in all our hearts. She was a wonderful neighbor and longtime close friend — most of all JOYFUL!!! I envision her and Les waltzing all over heaven with a few polka dances thrown in! Our condolences to the boys and family —

I was so shocked to read of LaNell’s passing this morning. A light truly went out in Midland because her smile brightened every room she entered. I had the honor to meet and work with LaNell through Midland memorial when she worked at Manor park. Then as both of us were on Manor park board. She loved Manor Park , it’s clients and the staff there. She made an impact as a staff member and as a volunteer board member. What a loss for all who knew her and her family. My prayers go out to all of you. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had gotten to know LaNell the past couple of years through the CO2 Conference with Steve. She was a delightful lady who was full of joy and laughter. I enjoyed every moment I was ever around her.

So sorry to hear about LaNell. I went to school with her in Reeder all 12 years. We used to bake cookies together and alternate whose house we would go to. She was so pretty and fun.
