Lonzo Clifford Cox, 91, born January 8, 1917 in Bonham, TX passed away December 17, 2008. L.C. Cox married the love of his life Ila Mae Henshaw on December 6, 1945. They celebrated 63 joyous years of marriage. During this time they were blessed with four children. L.C. has been a resident of Midland since 1951. He was owner of L.C. Cox Welding Services, Cox Rock and Dirt and co-owner of Cox of Midland with his son Gary Cox. L.C. was involved in the construction of numerous buildings downtown and ClayDesta Plaza. L.C. was also a member of the Odessa Sheriff's Posse which he greatly enjoyed riding with. During WWII he was stationed in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor as a welder on battleships and submarines A daughter Betty Jo Cox, son Gary Gene Cox, brothers Les and Bedford Cox and sister Cotna Rice, precedes him in death. He is survived by his loving wife Ila Mae Cox; daughters, Peggy and husband Nick Panasenko of Heber City, Utah, Dolores and husband Danny Meredith of New Braunfels, Dyann and husband Gerald Yarbrough of Midland; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. L.C. was a loving husband, father and Pap-Paw. He was admired and will be missed by all who knew him. Our family would like to extend thanks to all the physicians and nurses involved in his care and a special thank you to MMH ER, PCU, 3 Surg, Dr. Raj Patel and grandson, nurse practitioner Aaron Cox.
