L.C. (Cec) Whatley was called home on November 30, 2012, after a lengthy, courageous battle with heart disease. He passed away peacefully at home.He was born December 6, 1927, in Midland to Claude Clinton Big Boy and Lillie Lee Whatley. He served his country as a Marine during World War II.Cec married Pauline Hanson on August 19, 1950. They had a large, loving family of five children each special.He wore many hats during his working years, but his favorite was a western hat and being a cowboy. He enjoyed sharing his stories of long ago about old friends and working cattle. Daddy was a man of few words but what were spoken were remembered and often repeated. A wonderful era has been lost to us all, but hopefully recalled from time to time.He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, and one very special granddaughter, Stacey Renee Whatley.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pauline of Midland; daughters, Paula Adams and husband Milton of Hermleigh, TX, Barbara Madrid and husband Andrew of Midland; sons, Danny Whatley and wife Nancy of Alvin, TX, Clinton Whatley of Amarillo, and Jim Bob Whatley and wife Audrey of Gardendale; one grandson, Tanner; five granddaughters, Bridget, Roxi, Danya, Catlin, and Mahayla; one great grandson, Dalton; six great granddaughters, Allie, Carlie, Sophie, Brooklyn, Makenna, and Kennedy; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the funeral home.
