Kody was born on January 24, 1994 to Tonia and Jimmy Martindale in Midland, TX. He grew up in the Greenwood community and attended GISD his entire school career. He played sports in the youth leagues, junior high, and high school, with a love for baseball and football. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 2012. He attended Midland College. He was employed as a lifeguard for the City of Midland, Soft Suds Car Wash, and currently Athletic Supply, where he was considered a valuable employee, and welcomed into the Athletic Supply family.
He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Tonia Martindale, his loving sister, Kaci Martindale, his grandad, Russell Gunter, his grandmother Sherlon Lindeburg his uncle Rusty Gunter, and wife Sarah, aunt Tiffany(Gunter) Adair and husband Jeremy, aunt Mary (Martindale) Bolton and husband Jeff, great uncles and aunts, Cindi and husband Johnny Walker, Danny Gibson, Rick Gibson and wife Christie, Mark Gibson, Kris Gibson and wife Sharon, Betty Reynolds, and cousins (by the dozens) and Russell’s companion Lori Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his Nana, Charlotte Gunter, his great grandparents, Willard and Charlene Gunter, and Roy and Mary Gibson, aunt Diana Martindale, great aunt Ruth Worthy, and brother/partner in crime, Sam Wolf.
Kody enjoyed playing golf, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying great food. He was a generous person with an amazing capacity to befriend almost anyone. Kody was considered to be a close friend by many. Kody’s curiosity and bold spirit led him on many adventures, beginning as a toddler until the good Lord called him home. Kody loved competition whether playing sports or being right. He was the go-to-guy for most of his family and some friends when they had technological questions. Kody’s blue eyes and big heart drew in most people, he had an infectious smile and laugh, an ornery personality, and a compassion beyond his years. He would love to say something smart aleck with a straight face, wait a few seconds, and then grin big, so you would know he wasn’t serious. And if you were privileged enough to get his finger guns you were in his heart. Kody was so many things to so many people, the light in his grandparent’s eyes, his aunt’s and uncle’s entertainer, his sister’s protector, his father’s best friend, and a proud mama’s boy.
