Metyko of Midland, Texas, passed away in her sleep to join her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday morning, 17 December 2015 at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was 85 years of age. Klara is survived by her sister, Eva Scholar of Clovis, California, and her daughter, Eva Manes of Midland, Texas.Klara was born to Maria Rehak and Janos Metyko on 29 May 1930 in Budapest, Hungary. In 1956 she fled Hungary after fighting in the underground during the Communist Revolution, and settled in Orleans France, where she lived until migrating to the United States in 1969, settling down near Fresno, California. In 2010 she moved in with her daughter, Eva and son-in-law, Bryan, who cared for her while he served at Edwards Air Force Base, California, and at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, until finally settling down in Midland, Texas in 2014.Most everyone knew Klara as that sweet \Lilly old woman\ who always had something nice to say about anyone who met her. If you were especially sweet back to her you might find that she always had a little stash of M&Ms tucked away just for you.Klara loved to sew and knit. In fact, many of the hundreds of quilts that her daughter Eva made were hand completed by Klara. While living at Eielson Air Force Base, Klara knitted baby hats that were distributed along with a quilt to many of the newborns for Airmen assigned within the 354th Maintenance Group. It was in this way that she could contribute to our military and their families. She also loved watching the animals and other wildlife around her. Whether they be horses, cattle, moose, geese, ducks or rabbits, they all gave her something to appreciate and marvel at.Klara was a gift from God who will be missed by many.,
