Kevin Runkel, 68 of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm, Monday, August 7, 2023 at Fannin Terrace Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Kevin was born on January 12, 1955. Kevin grew up in Illinois and Oklahoma before settling in Midland, Texas in 1970. Kevin met the love of his life, Renee in 1975 and they married in 1980. He worked as a designer and engineer by trade, before starting his own business around 1990 where he provided services for designing and manufacturing. His shop became more than a place of business but where he shared his true passion, the love of Jesus Christ.
Kevin is survived by wife, Renee Runkel; daughter Amy Smith and husband Justin Smith, 2 grandsons, Austin and Mason; and daughter Kay Dee Reynolds and husband Cody Reynolds, and 2 granddaughters Charley and Madilyn; and brother Jay Runkel and wife Edna Runkel.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Henry Runkel and father, Edgar Dean Runkel.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards MD Anderson and all the many friends who provided support.
