Early Life and Family
Katie was born on November 17, 1989, in El Paso, Texas, to Linda and Stephen Fragoso. She was a proud mother to two beautiful daughters, Tezalei Mata and Kenzin Fragoso, whom she loved dearly. Katie moved to Midland with her family when she was just one month old. Growing up, she was artistic and shared a close bond with her sisters. Together, they created lasting memories, often putting on shows in the living room and inventing new ways to play. Katie’s creativity and determination carried over into competitive softball, which she played for many years alongside her twin sister, Julie—Katie as pitcher and Julie as catcher. This made for some interesting games. Her fastball was especially memorable.
At a young age, Katie prayed with her dad and became a Christ follower, developing a deep love for her church. At ten years old, she would wake up early every Sunday morning to help her dad and sisters set up for their new church, Stonegate Fellowship. She later became actively involved with the youth group and volunteered her time and energy for service at the church. More recently, she participated in the Citizens on Patrol program through the Midland Police Department, serving the community in various ways. She loved her bling, rap music and finding fun things to do. Katie always dreamed of traveling the world and experiencing new adventures whenever possible.
