Kathryn Sharee Whaley, 77, of Midland, Texas passed from this life into the next on Tuesday August 7, 2018 in Midland, Texas. She was born on April 25, 1941 in Beloit, Kansas to John Harold Kelly and Stella Irene Thomas. On July 13, 1957 she married Robert Lee Whaley – the beginning of their family and life together. She lived in Andrews, Texas for many years and had been a resident of Midland, Texas for 20 years.Kathryn was passionate about art and enjoyed taking classes and produced many beautiful paintings. She was an endowed member of the Eastern Star Friendship Chapter #1008 in Odessa, Texas having served in many positions, including Past Worthy Matron and created amazing decorations and beautiful floral arrangements for the various committees that she served on. She was a member of the CAF Desert Squadron Colonel’s Ladies in Odessa, Texas, a member of the Permian Basin Chapter DAR as well as spending time volunteering with the Pink Ladies in Andrews. She spent countless hours volunteering with AARC and recently enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Society in Midland, Texas. She enjoyed classic country music, bluegrass music, dancing, Cowboy Poetry and the opportunity that she had to be a docent at Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Andrews and had attended St Luke’s United Methodist Church in Midland as health allowed.Kathryn enjoyed spending time with family celebrating numerous holidays and family time as well as making precious memories with grandchildren celebrating their accomplishments and spending time with them playing games, cooking and sewing.Kathryn is survived and will be missed by her loving husband of 61 years as well as daughters Sharee Whaley of Midland, Texas; Theresa Halford and husband Bobby of Odessa, Texas; Pamela Lomax and husband Richard of Murrieta, CA; and Kelley Whaley of Midland, Texas. Grandchildren Phillip Salonek and wife Amy and son Louie of Midland; Amanda Whaley and fiancée Tommy Schooler and children Xander Berry, Thomas and Shirley Schooler of Wolfforth, Texas; Harley Whaley and wife Heather and children Zander & Nicko Morrison and Annika O’Neal of Shallowater, Texas; great granddaughter Lilyan Whaley of Shelton, Washington; Shannon Whaley of Seattle, Washington; Angela Taharnkleaw and husband Anthony and son Andrew of Houston, Texas; Denise Taylor and husband Ricky; Adam Lomax and wife Melissa and children Olivia, Isabel, and Ethan; Emily Stewart and husband James and children Gavin, James and Lilly Mae and the soon to be born great grandson all of California. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Golz of Wisconsin; sisters-in-law Beth Kelly of New Mexico, and Maureen Kelly of Arkansas; brothers-in-law Carl Whaley of Oregon, and Nelson Whaley of Iowa and various cousins, nieces and nephews and numerous friends.Memorial service will be August 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home -3800 N. Big Spring St. Midland, Texas. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society or the Order of Eastern Stars – checks can be made out to the Grand Chapter of Texas OES.
